Two things are certain: I shoot weddings and ballerinas but when asked to shoot Fitness Model/Yogi Michelle I about fell off my chair with excitement because, well, like who wouldn't want to shoot a fierce, strong and full of fire - passionate woman like Michelle?! I've known Michelle for 3 years and I just love her badass strength. She never ceases to amaze me with her madness drive for fitness and health.

She's got that whole purpose driven warrior princess save the world type of vibe. I am excited to see what this gorgeous human sets her heart and soul out to accomplish this year.

I woke up today reminded of a trip I took five years ago (seems like just yesterday embarking on the humanitarian side of my profession) from good 'ol facebook. The memories, the people, the connection made have had an impact on my life, whole.

It was seventeen years prior, the 90's. I was sitting in my junior class of high school, being taught by one of the best historians of world history and watching my history unfold. The Bosnian war. An etching still so fresh for so many.

In April, 1992, the government of the Yugoslav republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina declared it's independence from Yugoslavia. Over the next several years, Bosnian Serb forces, with the backing of the Serb-dominated Yugoslav army, targeted both Bosniak's and Croatian's resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands by 1995. The worst act of genocide since the Nazi regime's destruction of WWII.
